Relationship Index Calculations from Reference Samples, CAP Paper Challenge Review, Alu Repeats for Relationship Analysis, and OSIRIS Software

Description: The use of DNA testing has become the accepted method to resolve questions of biological relationship. Speakers from forensic, paternity, and government facilities discuss current issues involved with DNA testing of questioned biological relationships, show examples of how to calculate relationship cases, as well as new genetic systems that can be used for the analysis. Software designed for the human identity field are also discussed. These issues are relevant to all laboratories and agencies involved in biological relationship testing.
Objectives: After attending the HITA Workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand how to calculate a likelihood ratio for different biological relationships.
- Understand how to use Alu repeat analysis for the determination of biological relationships.
- Understand the issues involved with sibship analysis for immigration.
- Learn about the OSIRIS software program.
