There are two levels of membership in HITA: corporate membership and individual membership. Members include business establishments and individuals that perform human identity testing or manufacture the products used in human identity testing—either for forensic purposes or for determining family relationships.
HITA members benefit from meetings at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) and at Promega Corporation. HITA also maintains a liaison to the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB)—an additional benefit for members.

HITA holds a regular meeting every February. Additional meetings may be scheduled throughout the rest of the year depending on members’ needs and developments in the industry.
HITA meetings act as forums for the discussion of current scientific and business-related issues. They also provide information about recent federal and state legislative developments affecting the human identity testing industry.
